Welcome, one and all.

Most of us enjoy music, and will listen to it passively on the radio or on a portable music player. Many of us enjoy it more, when we can attend a live performance. Some of us learn to play an instrument or sing well enough to entertain at family barbecues, become "bedroom musicians" or do karaoke. A few of us take it seriously enough to make it a vocation.

Free and Open-Source Software projects are similar, in that there are the passive users; the folks who run the software, but don't actively participate in its development. Then there are the users who may not be able to program, but actively participate by testing new versions and reporting bugs or documenting new features. There is a smaller group of people who chase and fix bugs. Finally, there is a core group of developers who set the course and tone for the project; deciding which features go in or come out and so on.

Like other Open-Source projects, The Church of No, Thanks benefits from, and is grateful for .. what one might call the community of "passive Members"; those people who, in the case of The Church, visit the site, read a few posts and move on, checking back from time to time, but not actively "working on" The Church.

The Church of No, Thanks also appreciates, and to no small extent, depends on a community of "active Members"; those who comment and post and play a role in shaping The Church and its future.

The Church of No, Thanks conforms primarily to one person's vision right now, but you can step forward to take part, as an active Member, in shaping and growing The Church. You can do it. It's free, it's easy, it's safe, and there's no obligation. Best of all, you can be a part of making this the best on-line religion going.
